Super Mario - Character
Super Mario is the main character in the Super Mario games. He was originally a character called Jumpman in the Nintendo arcade game, Donkey Kong. Eventually, he and his brother got there own arcade game, named 'Super Mario Bros'. Mario has appeared in over 200 games.

Appearnce
Mario is short and stubby, and wears white gloves. He usually wears white gloves with blue overalls over a red shirt. However, in certain games Mario has been wearing red overalls over a blue shirt. Mario was originally a pixelled character in Super Mario Bros. He could not have hair, because the developers didn't know how to animate it. So instead they gave him a cap.
Personallity
Mario is thought to be brave and a hero, with a liking of pizza and pasta, and in Super Mario 64, sleeping. Mario is Italian, and is cleary reflected in his voice, which has been provided Charles Martinet.
Jobs and Occupations
Mario was intenionlly created as a plumber, however he is hardly ever seen doing his occupation. As he is a plumber, pipes remain a mode of transport, taking the player to another place with the execption of Super Mario 64, where one of the levels mario comes out smaller or bigger.
Objectives
In almost all Mario platform games, the objective has been to rescue Princess Peach, who has most often been captured by Bowser. Bowser is Marios arch rival, however they will sometimes work together to find puzzles such as in Super Paper Mario. Princess Peach will usually reward Mario with a kiss. In levels the objective is to do certain challenges, however coins and stars can be collected, which may let you get an extra life if you have enough of them.
Abilities
In all Mario games, Mario has been able to use powerups. The most famous one is the shooting power, which sends fireballs flying. These can be activated by picking up flowers . Mario can also pick up mushrooms which make him bigger, mini mushrooms which make him smalller and mega mushrooms, which make Mario giant.
The most usual way to kill an enemy is to jump on them, however power-ups can also help.
